ENCODING 2)
← Back
The act of producing a message (R.L. ACKOFF & F.E. EMERY, 1972, p.190).
The encoder must be able to make satisfactory correlations between its/his/her own internal code and the general communication code, whose rules must be precisely defined.
These are the conditions for the efficient transmission of a meaningful message.
Accordingly some rules of correspondence must be defined and respected, considering distinct aspects of encoding:
- the proper modulation of some physical phenomenon, as light or electromagnetic pulses, or sounds as for example tomtom beating or the human voice;
- the use of some specific language understandable by the receiver as well as the sender;
- the correct syntactical and semantical use of such a language.
