LEARNING HEURISTICS (Basic) 3)
← Back
M. MINSKY and O. SELFRIDGE (1960) proposed the following method: "In a novel situation try methods (parameter adjustment, network organizations) like those which have worked best in similar situations" (quoted by G. PASK, 1961, p.83).
This may be a quite useful method, but it is not very innovative.
M. MINSKY, in particular, around 1960, as a critic of F. ROSENBLATT's perceptron, was not optimistic about the practical possibility of evolutionary self-learning or self-organizing networks, which are based on loose behavioral rules, and not on precise and limited algorithms.
More recently, ways out of these difficulties have been introduced. See "Artificial life" and "Intelligence (Distributed Artificial)".
